The Best Food, Asian Food

Asians eat weird things. Face it. We do. Although it is an offensive stereotype, it is mostly a true stereotype. But I'm proud of it. This is the reason why Asian cuisine is so good, it is unique, different, and delicious. Asian delicacies are the best delicacies.

Balut- originates from the Philippines

Asians of all sorts, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Japanese, Filipino, Malaysian, Singaporean, Indonesian, Thai, even Indians, have been eating the unusual since way back when. Whether century egg, drunken shrimp, or fried squid, us Asians have been cooking the unusual since the age of the Dynasties, and farther back.

Drunken Shrimp- originates from China  It is literally drunk shrimp, swimming in a pool of hard liquor

 Many people shiver at the thought of some Asian foods. This is why some Asian dishes are named falsely. Filipinos, for one, have a dish called chocolate meat (diniguan in Tagalog).You may think "Oh, chocolate, that's not so bad" but chocolate meat is actually pork blood, which acts as a stew for the pork. It's kind of like gravy for mashed potatoes. Filipinos jokingly call it chocolate meat to make non-Filipinos want to eat it.



To conclude, although some of these Asian dishes are weird, it's just part of our culture to us. All Asians should embrace their culture, especially when it comes to food, which is arguably the best kind of food there is, regardless if it's weird or not. Lesson of the day, embrace your stereotypes, because they may be awesome.

For all the Asian-American teenagers out there, you probably love a lot of Asian-inspired things. Most Asian teenagers pick up the Asian inspiration around their school and community and begin to love and grasp the fact that, "If I'm Asian, I love Asian-related things." 

So today, I'm going to write about some things Asian-American teenagers love to do. If you are an Asian-American teenager, then you can probably relate to one or more of the following things.

1. K-POP and K-DRAMAS
This trend is for the Asian FEMALE teenagers out there. But if you love Korean Pop and Dramas and your a guy, I respect that as well.

K-POP has always been around with young Asian girls and will always be an existent trend with female Asian-American teenagers. Let's face it, the music is catchy, it's different, and even though people may not follow along with the words, its fun to sing along. Also, Asian-American teens also love to be obsessed with K-POP groups, such as Super Junior, Girls Generation, and SHINee. Its like being obsessed with One Direction or Bieber for all the non-Asians.





Korean Dramas. To describe it in three words, emotional, dramatic, and magnetic. Korean Dramas will always have you on the edge of your seat and tearing up by the end. It's "magnetic" trait makes you want to watch episode after episode after episode. 




2. PHO AND KOREAN BBQ
Pho. Pronounced (FUH). If you haven't ate Pho yet, you are truly missing out on what Asian cuisine is. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup, with beef broth and basil, cilantro, green onion, onion and mung beans (bean sprouts) thrown in there. It also of course includes the delicious rice noodles.  Every fan of Pho throws in a little Sriracha (a key Asian essential) and Hoisin sauce in their pho to add a little bit of spice and flavor. When you add all of those ingredients up, you get a delicious and heavenly noodle soup that will make your mouth water. So when we Asians get our hands on it, we eat it all and come back next week for more.\




Korean Barbeque. Way less expensive than a fancy steak restaurant, delicious, and bang for your buck are all the wonderful traits that describe KBBQ. Korean BBQ is best eaten with family and friends. It's a great deal and meal for all.




3. COVER SONGS

Asian-American teens love cover songs on YouTube because the music is original, raw, and personal. Forget mainstream music, listen to Asian-American cover songs. 


4. BOBA
What Jamba Juice is to non-Asians, Boba is to Asians. Boba, or bubble tea, is inexpensive, located everywhere, and tasty. Young Asian-American teens love to hangout at Boba spots and meet up. Boba restaurants are like a hangout place for all Asian-American teens. A lot of Asians love Boba because it is addicting and enjoyable with friends. You may see the hashtags #bobaholics and #bobalife around Asian-American teenagers in social media, which brings us to our last thing Asian-American teens love.




5. SOCIAL MEDIA
Everyone loves social media! All Asian-American teens do, in fact. Everywhere you look, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, or YouTube, there will always be an Asian-American teen. It's the Asian Invasion concept. Every YouTube Asian-American are big on the internet. For example, nigahiga, kevjumba, JustKiddingFilms,Wong Fu, and you can't forget the Asian makeup gurus like Michelle Phan! There are a lot of tumblr Asian girls as well, posting about what they love, Asian-inspired things. Overall, Asian-American teens love social media because it's another way to connect with friends and family, and it's a way to show your interests and hobbies and present them to the world.







As you can see, there are a lot of things Asian-American teenagers love. We use the things we love to connect with other people, share our talents, eat, and gather together. There are many advantages to what we love to do. It's just a part of the Asian way of life.

March Madness Kevin Ware

Hello all,

Remember Luke's post about the March Mardness and how it's suppose to be exciting and fun? Yeah, here is a part that is not so fun but disgustingly exciting. It is about a player on Louisville, Kevin Ware, who breaks his leg.

We are not talking about a little injury for wussies but it's more like bones coming out of skin and meat. I have to tell you, this is not the most amusing video to some of you, but to others that find this fascinating, you're strange so go find a psychiatrist. This is very, very, extremely disturbing. In a matter of fact, it is one of the most disturbing videos I've watched. Watch if you would like:

March Madness 2013

Hello all,


It's that time of year again, spring, and along with it, March Madness. For any of you who do not know what March Madness is, it's the annual tournament the NCAA holds to find out the best college in the nation- in basketball, that is.



The NCAA March Madness tournament consists of 68 collegiate teams, splitting into four regions, the Midwest, South, East, and West. Along with that comes seeds, sort of like rankings, in each region. For instance, Gonzaga, a top contender in the tournament, is the number 1 seed. Another example, Harvard, (Jeremy Lin's alma mater!) is a number 14 seed and is considered a "dark horse" in the tournament, which means that although they are under-rated, they could be dangerous.



 But the main reason why everyone comes to watch and root for teams during March Madness is filling out brackets. Brackets, as the one shown above, are usually filled out by many people, whether they like basketball or not. Filling out brackets is simple. You look at the matchup between the two NCAA teams, and pick a winner! The numbers on the side of the NCAA teams is their seed, and how people think they stack up against most other teams. For example, the number 1 seeds, like Gonzaga, Louisville, Indiana and Kansas, are considered by most the best teams in the tournament. Many people usually fill out the brackets accordingly to the seeds, such as a number 5 seed Oklahoma State will beat a number 12 seed Belmont.

But, you shouldn't always trust what a team's seed. There have been many upsets and surprising outcomes in the past, and even in this tournament. Just today, the number 14 seed La Salle beat a number 3 seed Kansas St., and yesterday, number 14 HARVARD beat the number 3 seed New Mexico!

One interesting fact, there has never been a perfect bracket. Nobody has ever filled out a bracket, and gotten all of their picks correct!

Many people fill out brackets, including our President, Mr. Barack Obama! This year he picked a hopeful #1 offense in the nation, Indiana.



Whether or not you like basketball, you should at least fill out a bracket. Because you never know if you will get your picks right.

Along with this "madness," comes many opportunities for sports brands such as Nike and Adidas. Nike has made shirts for teams like Duke, Miami, and Illinois, Duke's shown below. Colorways for different shoes and elites have come out as well.




Although the tournament has already started, in fact with many upsets today and yesterday, check out some games on TBS, CBS, truTV, or TNT. Many games are worth watching, especially as it gets down to the final minutes. There is always much tension in games, even if it isn't that important.

So watch a game or two, and check out what the "madness" is all about. My bracket isn't going very well, as many upsets have busted my bracket. The number 5 Wisconsin, got beat by the number 12 seed Ole Miss, which screwed my whole bracket over. I had Wisconsin going to the Final Four. :( But, I still have hope for the number 2 seed Miami Hurricanes, as I have them winning it all.

It's been a while...

Hi all.

I know I have not posted anything for a really, really long time. Here is what has been happening with my life for the past month (good and bad):

• I was rejected from Lakeside
• I had a break, went to Oregon, and picked up Snowboarding
• I learned how to do some tricks on the kendama

Overall, it's been a good month, other than Lakeside.

Guap is referenced to any high amount of dollars, basically a general word for mad dough.

guap - (gwa'p), n - a considerable amount of money, most often cash, indicating a high degree of purchasing power for fast-depreciation consumer items such as luxury cars and electronics.

The word "guap" derives from the Spanish word guapo/guapa which means  handsome. I have no idea why guap means a large amount of money.

Happy Super Bowl day!

I'm sure many of you watched the game. Even if you didn't want to, your dad or uncle must've been watching it and you saw a little bit of it. If you didn't, here's the result. I know Asians only want the results and care about nothing else. Baltimore Ravens won 34 - 31 against the 69ers. Hahaha, jk, the San Francisco 49ers.

Super Bowl XLVII

It's that time of year again when there is a significant increase in buying of chips, chicken wings, pizza, and you can't  forget beer. Yes, the 47th (XLVII in Roman Numerals) Super Bowl is coming up this Sunday, featuring the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.

If you don't watch football very much, the Super Bowl is the championship game of the two best teams in the NFL. As of right now, those teams are the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens, as stated in the above paragraph.

Can Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and  the dangerous San Francisco 49ers offense break through the tough defense of the Baltimore Ravens with legendary linebacker Ray Lewis on their side?


The Super Bowl, although you love football or not, actually racks up a lot of money. It is, if not, one of the most watched events on TV. There were 111.3 million viewers last Super Bowl, and that number is only planning to increase this year.

Another famous part about the Super Bowl are the commercials. When you watch TV, you may not pay attention to the commercials, as they may be boring, corny, and worthless. Super Bowl commercials, however, are a different breed of commercials that come out once a year that will capture your attention and maybe even make you impressed. After all, companies pay at least 3.4 to over 4 million for a commercial spot during the Super Bowl.

One interesting fact about the Super Bowl this year is that the head coaches of both teams, Baltimore and San Francisco, are brothers, Jim (49ers) and John (Ravens) Harbaugh. Many sports blogs, tv shows, and radio stations are called it the "Harbowl." I wonder who the Harbaugh's parents are rooting for.



We can't forget the half-time show, which this year's Super Bowl features Beyonce.



So really, the Super Bowl will keep you attached to the screen, as it have 111.3 million last year, because of good football, commercials, and food.
